How to Buy Scaffolding Towers
Before you even begin looking to buy scaffolding towers you need to make sure that you know which types are available and which is the most suitable for the job that you need. Scaffolding towers come in many different shapes and sizes to accommodate many different needs so you could potentially waste a lot of time if you aren’t careful. When you buy scaffolding towers you need to make sure the tower and scaffold platform are both safe to use and also provide the level of portability and durability required for the job. Which one is best for you will depend on which job you are doing and what requirements you have. In this article I'll be going through a few of the different types of scaffolding towers so that you can make the right decision for you.
Before you start to look into buying scaffolding towers though you should think about whether you really need to buy one or whether it would be more cost-effective to rent one. Renting a piece of scaffolding is obviously a lot cheaper, and is probably the best option if you're doing a one-off job or aren’t going to be using it very often. However if you’re a contractor and going to be regularly using scaffolding towers than buying one may save you money in the long run. Remember though that when you buy a piece of scaffolding it can be difficult to find a type that is suitable for all jobs. If you are a contractor then it may be worth getting a few different types just to make sure that you have the right one when you need it.
First of all we’ll start with the aluminium scaffold tower. These are very common because aluminium is a light metal and hence easy to carry around. If you want to have a portable scaffolding tower that can be moved to different parts of the job at will then aluminium is definitely an option that you should consider. Because aluminium is light they're also much easier to set up and put down, so you can spend more time doing the job and less trying to erect the scaffolding.
Another very common type of scaffolding tower are steel scaffolding towers. Often, these are used on more industrial jobs because of their weight. Because steel is a heavy metal they are much harder to move around and hence you have to dismantle them whenever you need them in a different position. However, they are also extremely stable so if you need to have a lot of people on the scaffolding or if you're scaffolding is going to be up for an extended period of time then steel is probably the best choice. Just remember that if you have many different places that need scaffolding on the job you'll probably need to buy more than one. If you’re contractor then steel scaffolding towers are probably right for you because they can be used in a wide range of situations. The downside is that you have to spend more of your labour time putting them up.
Another factor that you have to take into account is whether you want to buy folding scaffolding towers or standard ones. The great thing about folding scaffolding is that they are extremely easy to setup and also very rigid when you have done so. However, you can't really stack folding scaffolding as easily as you can standard scaffolding so it may be less versatile as a tool for your job. If you're going to be doing all of your work inside a warehouse then buying indoor scaffolding is a good idea because they are more portable. This is because they don't need to be as rigid as other kinds as they don’t have to stand up to strong winds and weather conditions.
